What are the quality certificates that a rotational moulding company must have?

Quality certificates are the most generalised way of verifying that the production processes developed by a company comply with the quality parameters required to go to market.

¿Cuáles son los certificados de calidad que tiene que tener una empresa de Rotomoldeo_2Although they are voluntary, they are essential to establish a relationship of trust between supplier and customer, providing a guarantee of added value. Having a quality certificate can therefore become a differential element when it comes to standing out from the competitors, increasing the attractiveness and trust in the products.

Certifications are granted through audits by independent and autonomous institutions, external to the company. The most important of these is the International Organization of Standardization (ISO), which is responsible for drawing up international technical standards in many areas of application.

These are rules containing technical specifications based on the results of technological development and experience. They are available to all parties involved in commercial transactions (suppliers, customers, consumers, etc.) and therefore constitute national and international reference documents.

Certifications can be of a more generic nature or respond to the requirements of a specific production sector. In the case of rotational moulding, they vary according to the pieces required by customers. In any case, they are very important when it comes to demonstrating technical and management solvency in projects. The most important of these are:

ISO 9001

It provides any external interested part with a guarantee that the internal management process is subject to the requirements of the standard. This translates into the traceability of everything that is carried out in the production process, and in a formal control of all detected non-conformities.

ISO 14001

Guarantees suppliers and customers that waste management is in accordance with current regulations through authorised waste managers, and that all aspects related to the environment are controlled and identified.

ISO 14006:2020

The implementation of this standard means for any company to take a step forward in the development of the circular economy. It is also a way to integrate the most sustainable design possible in the development of products. It reduces all the environmental impacts that can occur in each of the phases of its life cycle and minimises them.

Any component manufacturing technology - such as rotational moulding - must be ISO9001 certified. Thus, the final product incorporates all the necessary certificates and seals required for its commercialisation. Other types of certification, such as ISO14001, are the key to winning tenders and green public procurement contracts.

In summary, quality certificates are not a legal regulatory requirement. But companies that voluntarily submit to a review of their production processes take a step forward in terms of reliability, quality assurance and commitment to continuous improvement in pursuit of excellence.
